Good Friday Test Resurrected

The Mongooses (Finamore, Cornish, Mrowka) defeated The Dominators (Izzo, Parham, Kiley) by two wickets

In traditional Christian teachings, Jesus died on Good Friday at 3pm and rose again 3 days later on Sunday. On Good Friday 2007, the Mongooses were as good as buried by 3pm, with the Dominators piling on the runs in a cracking first innings after winning the toss. The highlight of the innings was the first recorded Backyard Cricket 150, scored by Aidan Parham.

The Moogooses narrowly avoided the follow on, and when Dominators captain, Chris Izzo, Parham, and even bowler Daniel Kiley got amongst the runs (Kiley scoring a career high 21 runs), they managed to set the Mongooses a seemingly insurmountable total of almost 300 runs in less than 45 minutes.

Enter the Saviour. Mrowka be thy name. Smashing 147 off just 76 balls, Mrowka laid the foundation for an amazing comeback. James Finamore chimed in with 87 off 44, and it was now a case of the Dominators trying to avoid defeat.

After the Dominators got Mrowka out for 14 and Cornish out for 12 (off 2), it ultimately came down to the last over. In a controversial decision, captain Izzo decided to bowl himself for the last over, against Finamore. It came down to the final delivery. A dot ball would deliver a draw, a single a tie, and two or more a win for the Mongooses. Finamore delivered, with an emphatic six.
